Afra Zaal

I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2022. In the years before that, I studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and furthered my gynecology education and completed my dissertation at the UMC Utrecht. Lastly, I did a fellowship at the LUMC.

Together with my colleagues, I take care of women with gynecological cancer at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. My focus areas include vulvar carcinoma, and vulvar disorders such as lichen sclerosus. Besides that, I am actively involved with research, the development of guidelines, quality monitoring and education on HPV related tumors. Working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute is something that I find very pleasant, mainly because the patient comes first here.
