I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) since 2009. I see many breast cancer patients at my consultations, but also some patients with other conditions like colon cancer, stomach cancer, melanomas, or kidney cancer. Many women are referred here for rapid diagnostics for hereditary breast cancer. This is necessary if the results of these tests (DNA diagnostics) could be relevant to the treatment plan. We make sure that we can provide the results quickly, within 4 weeks.
It is important to me that women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer can receive proper information about the available treatment options for their situation, and genetic tests can play a big part in this process.
