Joost Knegjens
I came to the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2003 to specialize in radiation oncology and joined the staff team in 2008. I specialize in the treatment of lung cancer, small cell lung carcinoma, and the combination treatment of radiotherapy with chemotherapy or other therapies. I also concern myself with stereotactic radiotherapy to the body and the head, a treatment type in which a high dose of radiation is delivered to small tumors with great precision. When delivering the radiation to the head, we use the Gamma Knife. I am also responsible for the training of physicians in radiotherapy as an educator.
Our extensive patient contacts, close collaborations with the other departments and colleagues, and the advanced technical aspects of our treatments keep my work fascinating.
