Surgery
What is surgery?
Surgery is the removal of your tumor through surgery. The exact techniques that will be used depend on the type and characteristics of your tumor. At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, we use the newest developments in surgical techniques and technology. Your physician can tell you what your surgical options are, and give you more information about them.
What to expect?
You will be admitted to the Netherlands Cancer Institute before your surgery. You will usually be under general anesthesia during your surgery, and will have to recover at the hospital for a few days after the operation. Some people are able to go home on the day of the surgery itself.
What kinds of side effects can I expect?
The exact side effects you can expect depends on your type of cancer, surgery, and overall health and physical condition. We will try to treat all side effects and make the experience as comfortable as possible for you.
