Better imaging of melanoma thanks to confocal microscopy
The dermatology department at the Netherlands Cancer Institute is one of the few medical centers in the Netherlands to have access to a new technique for non-invasive diagnostics for skin cancer, including melanoma.
It concerns reflectance confocal microscopy, in which one area of the skin can be analyzed for the presence of abnormal cells up to a certain depth, without a need for a skin biopsy.
