New imaging techniques
Treatment for further advanced ovarian carcinoma consists of a combination of chemotherapy and something we call a debulking surgery. A debulking surgery aims to remove all visible parts of the condition. This may be hard due to the placement of the cancer cells. Debulking can also cause discomfort. Our current imaging techniques make it hard to indicate whether that will be the case for the patient, prior to the surgery. By using new imaging techniques and tumor markers, we run trials to investigate potential improvements.
