Hybrid tracers to detect the sentinel lymph node
The sentinel node procedure is an examination of potential metastases in the lymph node that is the most closely connected to the penile tumor. We use a radioactive marking fluid which can be detected during the procedure using a gamma detector through an acoustic signal.
Together with this new marker fluid, we now inject a fluorescent marker that can be detected using a special camera. We now have an audio signal and visual signal available. We expect that this can increase the reliability of the procedure.
