Face masks mandatory as of December 1, 2020

As of December 1, face masks are mandatory in public indoor spaces. The Netherlands Cancer Institute is a public indoor space.

Not much will change at the hospital. This mandatory face mask policy will replace our former policy in which face masks were strongly urged.

Do you have an appointment at the hospital, or are you visiting someone? 

• You will need to wear a face mask: all patients, visitors, and patient accompanists over the age of 13.
• Please bring your own face mask. All face masks will need to cover the mouth and both nostrils, and have prevention the spread of disease as their goal.
• If you do not have a face mask, or if your face mask does not meet the requirements, we will give you one upon entry. Please put on your face mask in the elevator or staircase of the parking garage, and keep it on during your entire stay.

The only exception to this rule: face masks are not mandatory for people who cannot wear or put on a face mask due to a medical cause or impairment. In collaboration with their physician, we can deviate from the agreement above. We will urge the patient to wear a face shield instead as an alternative protective measure.

All existing preventative measures will remain in force. We will continue triage at the entrance (a quick health screening upon entry for patients and visitors), wash our hands often, cough or sneeze in our elbows, keep a social distance of 1.5 meters, and ensure proper hygiene and ventilation. Your and our safety is important to us.
