Ontmoet Alexander van Akkooi, surgeon

I started working as a surgical oncologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2015. I focus on treatments for melanomas, merkel cell carcinoma, and soft tissue sarcomas. As head of the national Tumor Focus Group Melanoma and head of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) melanoma group, I am highly involved in educational initiatives, the improvement of care, and scientific research.

It is important to me that I am able to offer my patients the most technologically advanced treatments and combination treatments across multiple specialties, with a focus on personal care. All these factors come together at the NKI.
