Esther Wolthuis
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2014. I primarily work as an anesthesiologist in the operating rooms where I make sure that my patients receive the proper sedation while undergoing (often major) surgery. We also take on the pain treatment after surgery. As an intensivist, I am the physician responsible for people in our Intensive Care unit, where we care for patients in need of constant monitoring after major surgeries. We also look after acutely ill patients who cannot breathe without assistance, or keep their blood pressure under control without our help.
I am very glad that I can combine these two fields at the Netherlands Cancer Institute to ensure that our patients receive the best guidance throughout the surgical process.
