I started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a gastroenterologist specialized in oncology in November 2013. The NKI is a great work environment because colleagues from several disciplines - radiation therapists, surgeons, radiologists - come together to collaborate. We all share the same goal: providing our patients with the best care possible.
There is plenty of room for research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. This is vital in order to ensure proper, high-quality care because the research will eventually lead to improvements in our treatment options. At the Diagnostics and Treatment center (OBC; Onderzoek en Behandelcentrum), I am responsible for upper and lower GI endoscopies and endoscopic ultrasounds. I mainly treat patients with esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, and hereditary stomach cancer.
