Nienke van Trommel
After completing my gynecologic oncology fellowship at the Center for Gynaecologic Oncology Amsterdam (CGOA; Centrum Gynaecologisch Oncologie Amsterdam), which involves the NKI, I started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2016. Our multidisciplinary team treats women with gynecologic tumors such as ovarian cancer cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, and gestational trophoblastic diseases (cancer and precursors of the placenta). Together with this multidisciplinary team and the patients themselves, we come up with a personalized treatment plan.
I combine my work in patient care at the Netherlands Cancer Institute with my scientific research. My research interests are cervical cancer and its prevention, as well as trophoblastic tumors.
Outside of the hospital, I work as a secretary of the International Society for the Study of Trophoblastic Diseases (ISSTD) and previously worked as a secretary of The European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Diseases (EOTTD) and head of the Amsterdam Trophoblast Team (ATT).
