Mijke Bol
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since March 2012. Besides general diagnostics, I focus on cytology and gynecopathology.
We receive tissue samples from all kinds of body parts, so we encounter many different things under our microscopes. That makes my tasks highly varied and I carry a great responsibility: we pathologists can answer the question of whether cancer cells are present in a patient's body, whether metastases in the lymph nodes, or whether a tumor has been removed in its entirety. It's a difficult but rewarding profession.
