Caroline van der Zee

I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a plastic surgeon since February 2021. I followed part of my education here and experienced how special it is to work in a multidisciplinary team where the patient comes first. As a plastic surgeon I am involved with reconstructive surgeries for patients who had oncological or preventive procedures done by other specialists at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. 

We offer primary reconstructive surgeries (directly after surgery by the surgical oncologist) or secondary (after recovery from the oncological procedure) reconstructive surgeries. We look at what the best treatment is for each patient individually. Together with the patient, we try to find the best balance between a speedy recovery and the best quality of life afterwards.
