Froukje de Vries
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a hospital psychiatrist since 2016. I am mainly involved in the diagnostics and treatment of psychiatric symptoms that occur in cancer patients. As a psychiatrist, I can prescribe medication to support my therapy sessions, although I don't always make use of that. Some patients can really benefit from a couple of sessions and will be on track after. I also support patients living further away from the hospital in their search for a treatment specialist in their own region. As of this year, we offer video consultations which makes it easier for us to provide our specialized services to people who don't live as close to the hospital.
I work at the outpatient clinic as well as our wards. Besides my work in patient care, I conduct research one day a week to better connect our psychosocial care to our patients' needs at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
