Laura Mertens

I started working on my PhD research into bladder cancer at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2011. Then I trained to be a medical specialist and specialized in urologic oncology. Since completing my training in 2020, I have been working as a urologist. Over the coming year, I will focus on the treatment of patients with malignant urologic tumors. 

It is important to me that our patients receive their treatment from a multidisciplinary team and according to the latest scientific insights. That's why I conduct research into new, better ways for bladder cancer imaging and treatment. The combination of high-quality patient care and innovative scientific research is unique to the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
